The Greater Pittsburgh Supported Employment Association, Inc. (GPSEA)
is a coalition of individuals, organizations and advocates all interested
in the concept of supported employment.
Founded
in 1987, this group has a fundamental concern to see that all persons,
especially those with the most severe disabilities, are given opportunities
to receive appropriate employment and vocational support.
It
is the mission of GPSEA to advocate, promote and practice the principles
of community employment for persons with disabilities.
The
real work of GPSEA is accomplished at the committee level. Our community
awareness, finance/operations, and personnel committees have produced
exceptional outcomes throughout the years. Some of these outcomes
include identifying new trends in the field, hosting conferences,
providing trainings, and recognizing employment specialists.
