Peace Activists gathered at Cascade Playground in Seattle to recognize and protest the ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people and to demand justice from our governments and politicians. Longtime Greens attended, as did representatives from Veterans for Peace, Seattle Against War, and other organizations.

Growing up in the political environment of Capitalism, which apparently favors the Sociopath, the youth maintain compassion and dignity in the face of commodification -- good job humans! Lots of High School students showed up. We were giving out BDS alert stickers, and one student said, "Oh, I don't buy from any of these companies", as we were showing them a Boycott, Divest & Sanction target list. He already knew.
Memorial & Remembrance - Rachel Corey & Ayenesur Ezgi Eyegi were among those remembered as Martyrs to the Palestinian cause of seeking justice and rights of return. Rachel and Ezgi both had ties to Seattle. I met Ezgi briefly at the UW encampment and remember her patiently helping me to get her name right. A vibrant and earnest person. She was assassinated by an IDF bullet in Palestine as a humanitarian observer. It is truly unbelievable that our government demands no accountability and allows Israel with a proven record of dishonesty to investigate it's own crimes. These young women were the opposite of terrorists; they carried light.
When the speakers finished, the march towards downtown began shortly after 2 pm. We made stops at the Palantir Technology Offices in Seattle & Amazon Headquarters to highlight the role of these companies in modern warfare, surveillance, and social influence globally. A week before, the Global Sumud Freedom Flotilla Coalition had been hijacked by Israel, and activists were still being held as we marched. The combination of ongoing starvation of the Palestinians and the humanitarian aid boats not making it to shore was daunting, but the resolve of the crowd, "Palestine, we will not let you die!" was powerful.
The People Must Lead. While Gazans were starved, our government decided that UNWRA was Hamas, then predictably Red Crescent aid workers were also Hamas. Predictably, a flotilla of 500 citizens from 44 countries bringing humanitarian aid to Gaza were also deemed Terrorists. The fleet was boarded in International waters, and the citizens were illegally detained by Israel on October 1, 2025. On October 2nd here in Seattle, activists met up at Cal Anderson Park to Rally for support of the prisoners. Government leaders worldwide appear to be either out of touch with what their citizens want, or they just don't care.
After all the hospitals and ambulances in Palestine have been targeted or bombed, people of conscience could not be idle, and mobilized. A 22 year old Environmental Activist on a boat carrying humanitarian material aid like baby formula is also called Hamas; the world is having a hard time swallowing Israel's lies and our Government's excuses. Being called Hamas by Israel is becoming a badge of honor. On returning from detention and torture, the Flotilla Hostages reported that as young as 9 years old were held in the prison.
Flotilla Hostages Released by Israel. Nelson Mandela's grandson was one of the last prisoners to be released, along with other South Africans. Israel was not pleased about the case brought against it in the ICJ. No one can say that South Africa does not know an Apartheid state when they see it, and is not willing to call it out.
Americans killed and detained. The hostages did not forget to mention a 17-year-old Florida native being held in prison right now. Will Governor Rubio say nothing?
